Optimal Placement®, Proactive Injury Prevention, and Ergonomics
A ProgressiveHealth Prevention Specialist is a health care professional who has the expertise to support and promote a safer approach to work. Our Prevention Specialists are specifically trained and certified as Prevention and Health Improvement Technicians (PHIT)SM in the prevention of musculoskeletal injuries and related conditions.
Our objective is to deliver pertinent outreach, ergonomic expertise, and collaborate with clients in Safety, Engineering, Tooling, Manufacturing, and in-operations contexts, ensuring seamless integration without disrupting production while fostering healthy behaviors.
Our Proactive Injury Prevention approach starts with a comprehensive PDA of every job.
ProgressiveHealth’s integrated solution begins with a comprehensive Physical Demand Analysis (PDA) of every job and process within your workplace. This foundational step helps identify the specific physical requirements and risks associated with each role, ensuring a clear understanding of job demands. Once these demands are defined, ProgressiveHealth conducts functional testing of job candidates to evaluate their ability to safely and effectively perform the essential and non-essential functions of the job. This evidence-based approach ensures optimal job placement, enhances productivity, and significantly reduces the risk of musculoskeletal injuries by aligning each employee’s capabilities with the demands of their position.
Lift, Reach, Move – ensuring the right ergonomic techniques
ProgressiveHealth’s ergonomic assessments are designed to ensure employees are using proper techniques and working in environments that support safe, efficient movement. Our Prevention Specialists observe employees performing real job tasks—whether it involves lifting, reaching, bending, or repetitive hand movements—to identify any risk factors that may contribute to strain or injury. We evaluate posture, body mechanics, workstation setup, and workflow to pinpoint areas where adjustments can be made for improved safety and comfort.
These assessments go beyond observation; they result in actionable recommendations tailored to the specific demands of each job. From modifying tool placement to improving lifting techniques or adjusting workstation heights, our goal is to reduce risk while supporting productivity. By making small, strategic changes, we help employers create a safer environment where employees can perform at their best without unnecessary strain.
Early identification of minor discomforts is key to better results
Our solutions are designed to reduce sprains and strains by encouraging the early identification and reporting of minor musculoskeletal discomfort or concerns with work processes. By addressing issues early, before they develop into more serious injuries, the program helps maintain a healthier and more productive workforce.
Employees have multiple ways to report discomfort or process concerns, ensuring accessibility and prompt response. We also manage a Scorecard Inspection Process to ensure ongoing adherence to ergonomic standards, safe lifting techniques, and best practices. This systematic approach helps maintain a culture of safety and continuous improvement while minimizing the risk of musculoskeletal disorders through timely intervention.
Identifying root causes of discomforts to prevent future injuries
ProgressiveHealth’s Situation Investigation / Intervention / Management (SIIM)® is designed to support safety managers by addressing the root causes of workplace discomfort and injury risks. When an issue is identified—whether it’s related to a task, tool, or movement—our Prevention Specialists step in to assess the situation onsite, analyze the contributing factors, and determine the underlying cause.
From there, we develop practical, job-specific countermeasures that improve the process without disrupting production. All findings and actions are documented in our proprietary Wellphorce℠ system, giving you access to real-time tracking, trends, and actionable data to support your safety goals and reporting needs. SIIM® not only helps reduce workplace injuries, but also empowers frontline teams to proactively engage in safety and process improvement, building a stronger, more resilient safety culture over time.
